VERY INTERESTING! This reminds me of Godwin's work, Political Justice. Godwin was a close friend of Edgeworth, so I wonder whether he commented on this. Do you know?
Could be. Volume XI, Suffusions, Poems for Mary Wollstonecraft, of the Romantic Series, my 14-volume collection of poems for and about the Romantic Poets, I believe, mentions Edgeworth because Mary was highly jealous of her relationship with Godwin. Godwin had a circle of women around him; Edgeworth, Mary Darby Robinson, and others were part of it.
Interesting, does Maria Edgeworth happen to be related to the economist who developed the Edgeworth box model of trade taught in introductory economics classes today?

oh I don’t know, too long since I read Godwin, maybe it will be discussed in the book?

I also found Castle Rackrent mildly disappointing. But many of my friends love it.
Yeah, I get it, I just don’t enjoy it
