I’m sorry but Rhodri Lewis’s comments—hardly ideas, let alone arguments—were infuriatingly vague, bland, and falsely humble. He doesn’t seem to have any aesthetic convictions. If he’s what Princeton is offering these days, god help them.

Frustrating to listen to. For a self-proclaimed free speech fundamentalist, he comes off like an evasive politician determined to avoid a straight answer. “Does WS deserve his place in the curriculum? That’d be moralising”. Etc. No, that’d just be giving your opinion. It’s just a friendly podcast, not an interrogation! Contrast with Henry’s excellent and informative Shakespeare pod a few months back with (another academic) Tyler Cowen.
