I just read a Hamlet fact I would otherwise have included here.
Hitler used the phrase "to be or not to be" six times in Mein Kampf to "underline his all or nothing approach to what he thought was at stake for Germany in World War I." (from Richard Evans new book "Hitler's People"
Hm. Well I'm Episcopalian and I know we consider ourselves Catholic-ish. 'Catholic Lite,' as I've heard it said. The Catholic church is in the Nicene Creed, and etc. Were they maybe not considered so in Elizabethan England?

Also delighted by the gender stuff in here. :)))
I'm so not a Freudian but... yeah
Bernhardt playing the first filmed Hamlet was a genuine thrill. thank you!
Haven’t seen it myself!
Ace. Thanks Henry. Took me back 50+ years in a flash!

Yeah they were, to the extent that such a word/idea existed—it was very much part of the Reformation.
