I am half way through The Tortoise and love it so much I wanted to see what else I should devour! Iām currently on my holls in Northumberland and as usual will walk my dog /kids around the corner to the magical Barter Books. So many shelves ⦠what better place to find my next EJ story. I now know I will be hunting for Honey after breakfast! š
So late to this post but have to agree and will sing the praises of Elizabeth Jenkins from the rooftops with you. Knowing that she was still alive, but learning that she had Alzheimerās and was in a nursing home, I actually wrote to Elizabeth Jenkins a few years ago to say thank you for all the writing and had a wonderful reply from her carer.
Henry, having only discovered your substack a week ago, and spending many happy hours reading the archive, I managed yesterday to successfully haggle with the good burghers of ebay, and bought a tatty ex-library hardback 1st edition copy of Honey for just under £20 including P&P. I also bought the Jane Austen biography, The Tortoise and Dr Gully for under £15 for all three, so the one copy of Honey cost me more than the other 3 books together. I rarely buy an unknown (to me) author just on another person's recommendation, but your praise was so glowing that I felt compelled to see what all the fuss is about! I look forward to seeing if my views concord with yours. I love your site, by the way, so I'm teetering on the verge of becoming a paid subscriber, though funds are a bit tight at present.

Youāll only get it secondhand. That and Dr Gully (and Brightness) are her best works. Biog of Austen also splendid. Glad youāre a fan!

Any luck on the re-publishing front?
No :(
