So glad I finally read On the Origin of Species (and The Voyage of the Beagle)! Unfortunately, I'm visiting family and probably won't be able to make it to the discussion but thanks for the push to fill this major Bildungslücke. Hope you have a great discussion.

I may have recommended it before, but Camille Dungy's poem Trophic Cascade - one of my favorites - is very apropos for a literary discussion of Darwin: https://poems.com/poem/trophic-cascade/

The book I recommended was "Darwin: A Life in Poems" by Ruth Padel, based on his letters, notebooks etc, but all converted into poetry.
