We are meeting tonight to discuss Charles Darwin at 19.00 UK time. Meeting link here: https://meet.google.com/qyh-ocry-cno
I’ll be talking about prose style in the Origin of Species. This is a thread for any thoughts, questions, and comments you have either before or after the session.
So glad I finally read On the Origin of Species (and The Voyage of the Beagle)! Unfortunately, I'm visiting family and probably won't be able to make it to the discussion but thanks for the push to fill this major Bildungslücke. Hope you have a great discussion.
I may have recommended it before, but Camille Dungy's poem Trophic Cascade - one of my favorites - is very apropos for a literary discussion of Darwin: https://poems.com/poem/trophic-cascade/

Oh shame, we’ll miss you. Beagle is great isn’t it!
Excellent!

Most likely I won’t make it today, either. I’m sorry to miss this discussion.
Oh shame!
The book I recommended was "Darwin: A Life in Poems" by Ruth Padel, based on his letters, notebooks etc, but all converted into poetry.
I don't have a link.

Aha.
