Henry--what a powerful and carefully nuanced review of these depictions of a consummate existential question: How shall I live . . . a truly human life?

Recently, I was struck by the insight of a brilliant and gifted African-American nun, Sister Thea Bowman. After dealing with the news of breast cancer, Sister Thea adopted a motto: "I will live until I die."

She was spirited, loving, compassionate, accomplished. Living for her was not settling for mediocrity.

May we, like Sister Thea, truly live until we die!

Thank you for this great gift of such a thought review of three films that challenge us to awaken from the sleep-walking we may be engaged in!
