She was one of the greats
I am a lifelong Maggie Smith devotee and very sorry to hear the news of her death. She was one of the great actors. An immense talent. Rather than writing anything—what justice can I do to her?—here is a selection of short clips to show her extraordinary range. Who else could do so much? I am limited by YouTube. It’s a real loss that more of her stage work wasn’t filmed. Alas that I cannot show you her 2007 performance in The Lady from Dubuque!

My very first London West End show was the 1987 Lettice and Loveage production with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench - no wonder I became hooked! She was truly a Great. 💮
