How cool to see this title show up when last week I just committed the finishing out 100 of the greatest books. Starting way back. Oddly enough I’ve been through the Iliad several times but never cracked open Virgil. Loving it.
This resonates. I think some of the great books are genuinely great and also harmful in certain ways. For me, the goal is not blind reverence or total dismissal, but honest reading. We can admire the power of a work and still name its limits.

This is great. Slogging my way through Ulysses after Moby Dick.
