I’m so glad you’re enjoying the spring on the east coast. You describe it so beautifully. My cherry blossoms have blown off and away to be replaced by green leaves. I love how you bring in Lowell’s and Bishop’s poetry into what you are experiencing. Once while I was walking with my nonverbal autistic daughter I had a remarkable recollection of Wordsworth’s epiphany “The Mighty Being is awake!” I love how that works when you’re immersed in the moment outside. Enjoy your spring, and all our seasons too.
Few Americans realize that raccoons are exotic animals to people from the UK and Europe. I remember reading an interview with Patrick O'Brian, where the interlocutor asked him what he thought of America and all he wanted to talk about was the raccoon he'd seen going through someone's garbage

A pair of robins in our yard last year nested, bred, hatched, and flew off … over a six-week period. There have been one or two hopping around the last couple of weeks. If they go through that gloriously entertaining cycle again, I will know it’s the same ones returning.
I'm in Manhattan near Grand Central Terminal. The trees are thick with white pear blossoms, soon there will be drifts of them at the curbs. The are over a half million pear trees in the city. All of New York City is rich farmland which became a city because its deep port was irresistible.
